What do you do when Google bans you?
Well the first thing to do is to make sure that you are indeed banned. So check out our article “Am I Banned from Google”
just to make sure you are indeed banned. If you are indeed banned, the first thing to figure out why they banned you.
So here are some common reasons people get banned from Google, highlighted by some nice little bullets. 🙂
Why Did Google Ban You?
- Cloaking
- Hiding Text by changing the font color to match background.
- Hiding text under pictures or images.
- Buying Copious Amounts of Text Links
- Selling Copious Amounts of Text Links
- Doorway Pages
- Keyword Spamming
Those are just a few of the reasons. So the idea is to figure out why they banned you and to fix it. Assuming you can do that you should re-appear in the search engines in a few months. If you don’t want to wait that long then you can actually “request re-inclusion” or “request reconsideration”. Here is a great video on that topic. You really do need to however make sure you clean up your site before you make the request.
I’ve had a site banned in the past 2006 or sometime around there. I made a request for re-inclusion after cleaning up the footer of my site where I had hidden text by changing the font color to match the background page. It took about a month, but I was once again re-included.
