Fake Antivirus Software Making Billions-Fake or Rogue Antivirus Software is extorting billions of dollars from PC users across the globe. I’ll name some names in a little bit, but for now let me describe there Modus Operandi (mode of operation), as well as how to remove them for free.

This is what happens essentially
Step 1) User browses site(s) and may download some software that is valid, but bundled with some fake anti virus. Or user is prompted to agree to some terms on a website that start a silent installer, or user is prompted to install a plug-in to view a page or movie that does an install.

Step 2) Fake “scans” of your hard drive pop-up. Note: These can be browser ased (in internet explorer) or in a standalone Windows Application. These fake scans warn users on non-existent threats. Don’t buy the software!

Step 3) User activity is usually blocked as users computer is hijacked and the user is forced to pay a fee to remove the app. Fee is usually $20-$60 dollars.

Rolling in Cash
These companies that make this software should be thrown into jail. This is extortion. The internet is the wild wild west however when it comes to crap like this. So questions like where to try the accused, what to charge them with, and things like that are totally unprecedented.

How to Remove Rogue Software
