Hello and thanks for visiting our Adsense PIP post for the month of July 2010. We try to make one of these each month so that webmasters the world over can post the status of their Adsense payments.

So bookmark this page, as chances are you haven’t been paid yet, if you had you wouldn’t be searching for this page right? Then make a post telling us when your Adsense payment is in progress, where you are in the world, and maybe even another post once you get paid.

It’s fun to track the payments some regions tend to get paid first.

PageRank Sculpting

pagerank sculpting

pagerank sculpting

The whole purpose of PageRank Sculpting sounds a bit outlandish, it sounds like you are trying to turn your website into a body builder some some bs like that. The whole idea to me is crazy, but let us look at it for a bit.

What is PageRank Sculpting?
PR is the art of applying nofollow tags to internal and external pages in an attempt to boost the PageRank of several or one key page that the owner wishes to boost his PageRank on.

Why bother?
Well there are a few scenarious that I can think of, all of which sound a little bit Grey Hat.

  • boosted pages may rank better in search engines
  • owner plans to sell links on a high pagerank page
  • owner wants to stop PageRank evaporation.
  • owner wants to boost pages for purely self gratifying reasons (it makes them feel good)

Does PR Sculpting work?
Well it used to, but I’m not to sure how well it still works. You can try it an see for yourself, but I think it’s hardly worth the effort. During the time it takes to make a sculpting plan and editing your pages you could write a few good pages of original content and get more traffic than you would gain from any sculpting shenanigans.

Any and all input welcome.

Gold & Gold Coins Seriously Overpriced

10 year gold

10 year gold

At the time of this post Gold and Gold coins are seriously overpriced.

Look at this chart. 10 years ago gold cost $300 an ounce, and now it cost $1,200+ an ounce.

So why the huge increase? Well throughout history people have moved their finances into gold whenever they are trying to preserve there wealth. People are afraid of the economy collapsing, that the “Great Recession” may become a great depression. Additionally we may have a double dip recession. If you ask me things don’t look good for the good old USA. We need to start making and exporting more goods, as well as buying local products.

So why is gold overpriced, maybe you think it’s still under priced, this is solely my opinion. Gold is at a 10+ year high and if I where looking at a stock I would say the same thing.

So what should you invest in? Who knows, all I know is that Gold seems amazingly high at $1200 per 1 oz coin. Especially when you could have bought them for 1/4 that price just 10 years ago.

Silver is up as well, although I don’t feel that it’s as overpriced, at $19 or so dollars an ounce.

Your opinion is welcome, if you care to post it.

Text Hit Counter in PHP

PHP Flat File Counter

PHP Flat File Counter

In this article we’ll show you how to make a hit counter in PHP. You can use built in PHP functions to edit a .txt file and count page views or hits relatively easy. This tutorial will walk you through those steps and we’ll even attach a Zip file with the code below.

If you want something more advanced we’ll also show you how to do it using a MySQL database, but we’ll do that in another post. So here we go…

I always hate trying to search and find tutorial solutions zipped up,
so >>>DOWNLOAD THE SOLUTION HERE<<<

The directions are simple.

Copy and paste the code below into any page you want to count hits on and then save the file.
<?php
//make sure the hits.txt file is in the same folder
//make sure that the file is writable
$hits = “hits.txt”;
if(file_exists($hits)){
$var = fopen( $hits,’r+’);
$visits = fread($var,filesize($hits));
rewind( $var );
$visits++;
if ($visits == 0){
$visits = 1;
}
fwrite($var, $visits);
fclose($var);
echo number_format($visits);
}
else{
echo “Create a file named hits.txt in this directory and make sure to chmod it to 755”;
}
?>

Then Upload the hits.txt file into the same directory. Make sure the file is writable try 755 and if not 777.

If you want an even simpler alternative then use our Page Hit Counter it’s a simple html copy and paste script that places and image counter on any page you want. No registration required.

Post any questions you may have and i’ll gladly answer them.

Should I Buy Silver Coins or Bars?

silver bullion

Hey, Should I Buy Silver Coins or Bars? Well the best way to go about answering this question is to first ask yourself another question. Are you wanting to buy silver to store wealth for long periods of time like for retirement, because you are wanting to start a collection, or because you are afraid of inflation and a national debt crisis / hyper-inflation like many speak of.

Each answer will lead you to a different solution. So here we go.

IRA/Retirement/Storing Wealth
If you are wanting to save for the future and store wealth then you will most likely want to go with buying bars. You can get bars as small as 1,5, or 10 ounces all the way up to the standard 100 ounce bars you see in movies and bank vaults.  Buying the largest bars you can afford will give you the lowest price over spot. (usually less than a dollar over spot) They are also usually “stack-able” this takes up less room in the long term. 100 1oz coins will take up much more space than a single 100 ounce bar.

If you are wanting to start a silver collection then you most likely want to get yourself the coins or the smaller 1 to 10 ounce silver bars.

The coins are a little more to look at, and if you happen to have some old quarter, half dollars, dimes, or nickels that pre-date 1965 then you already have some silver coins.  Back then the those coins contained 90% silver.  Some were reduced to 40% until sometime in the 1970’s and now they have basically no silver content.

Silver coins come in all sizes, and weights the most popular being the 1 ounce pieces. Half Ounce, US Junk Silver, 4 oz, 5 oz, & 10 ounce. Some coins like the Australian Kookaburra’s, even come  kilo’s or 32.15 oz

HyperInflation/Currency /Economic Collapse

Actual Photo from Germany

Photo Germany 1920

There has been much talk of a currency collapse, or currency devaluation of the US Dollar and even the Euro. This has fueled most of the price spike in the years 2008, 2009, and 2010. Only time will tell. If you are worried about the collapse of the economy, and the devaluation of your currency like many are then you want to buy a bit of both.

Having both silver bars and rounds (coins) in your inventory will assure you will protect your assets against inflation, and give you some small coins on hand that you can readily use to buy much needed goods and even services. Trying to pay for $20’s worth of food by sawing off a piece of a 100 oz silver bar isn’t exactly practical, but neither is storing 20,000  coins in a small safe when you could just just have 200 large silver bars.
