Dell Sales Support Review A.K.A. Dell Hell

I’ve spent the last 2 days on the phone and chatting with Dell Support just trying to get 2 batteries. I’ve been transferred, disconnected, lost in chat que, put on hold, hung up on, misdirected, transferred again.

Then when I finally get someone to get it right, they tell me that I’ll receive the quote shortly and hang up. Well guess what I didn’t get the quote so I hop into the chat. Wait, talk with some moron for 20 minutes before he even bothers telling me he can’t help me, so of course he transfers me.

A lady who’s name I’m sure is not really Susan or Sally or whatever it was then creates the quote for me. I get the quote say thanks. Then I look and the Billing and Shipping address is not even remotely correct.

So I call back get disconnected, redirected, told I have the wrong department. Call back again, and finally force the guy to stay on the phone until I receive the quotes, with the right address, and item.

All of this took up 5 hours of my time, including my lunch hour. I’m not the highest paid worker in the world but what they wasted in wages was enough to buy one of the batteries quoted. So what is the real price of a system, yes it may be cheap, but when you call for parts or support you are going to pay with lost employee wages. Time that could be spent doing something productive is now used up on the phone.

This is what happens more times than not when dealing with Dell sales & support, they just toss you around or hang up on you, and at best do a sloppy and incorrect job. If you are from Dell and you are reading this, PLEASE fix your support issues. The place I work for has hundreds of dell computers, and we buy dozens and dozens every year to replace the old ones. Your sales support blows. You need to find some way of making persons accountable for their actions. Your “how did we do” survey doesn’t seem to work.

If you are a shop trying to make a decision between HP & Dell, and the prices are the same. Go with HP, I’ve never used their support but it can’t get any worse than DELL.

    I had the same problem with them.
    I had to ship in laptop for service they sent me two back, should have kept the second one.
    But I sent it back.

    A lady work with has had a defective laptop that they keep replacing parts on but won’t trade out. The laptop has “gold support” and this has been going on for a year, she is ready to run it over with a car.

    You get what you pay for usually. If a computer is cheap, corners have been cut somewhere. This somewhere just happens to be with Sales, and Support.

    The worst part of Dell is its Customer service. I firmly believe that Dell Customer service representative do not irritate their customer intentionally. There are some problems which can’t be solved on phone or via email. But Dell should make some reasonable steps so as to make its customer service fast and effective.
