Webmasters Strategy Guide

We wanted to write a little bit about the ebook “Webmasters Strategy Guide”. We’ve read it over and wanted to post a little up for those of you who are needing some help with success in the web world.

We will be promoting this book and in return they will be giving us some tips and do a little promotion for our site as well. Really a great deal.

So what about the book makes it special? Well it’s not hype. They don’t promise you the moon, but rather help you plot a course for it. They take a known strategy and break it down into steps so that even the novice webmaster can understand and benefit from it.

Here is a small exert from the book.

Setting goals allows you the webmaster to quantify the fruits of your labor. In order to set realistic goals we need to know a little bit about the other sites in this niche, and for this we need to do a bit of research again.

That’s sounds about right yeah? We think so. So if you have some spare time check out “Webmasters Strategy Guide” and let it help you kick some butt in your niche.

Be sure to print the book out so you can make some notes. Enjoy.

Notepad to Webpage

Notepad to Webpage

Notepad webpages? What? With the huge shift to easy to use social networking software like myspace, facebook, twitter, and the use of CMS software, comes the inability for the average joe web guru to create a simple html page.

Many if not most webmasters today rely on content management systems like wordpress & drupal to create their website for them. So check out the video below.

How Many Websites Are There?

May 2010 Survey

May 2010 Survey

This is as crazy and dynamic a question as any. The quick answer is somewhere around 240 Million domain names have been registered, but there are only 80 million of those (or roughly 1/3) of those are active.

What’s the difference between registered and active domains? Registered means someone owns the name, and active means someone has actually made a website for that domain.

This information was taken from netcraft.com and is the most accurate count as of May 2010.

Here is the link to the actual survey if you want to read more.

Why Do Websites Fail?

Why Do Websites Fail?

The quick answer is just because. It is impossible to tell how a web page is going to do, if it were easy we’d all be billionaires right? If you make 100 websites you may have one that’s a hit, then again you might not. You can make the best website in the world and if no one needs or wants to use it then it will fail. Here are a few reasons why websites fail.

Improper Planning
If you don’t have a game plan, if you don’t have agreed upon goals then you are bound to fail. How can you succeed when you’ve not even defined success. Do you want to build and then sell, do you want to get 500 visitors a day, or 5,000 visitors a day? Look ahead and plan for future needs as well. If your site does well are you going to need a dedicated server, or to hire employees?

Diversify what you ask?

Your Website Niches- Instead of just doing ringtones or tips on lawncare start a few other sites in other niches. So if one domain suddenly becomes unpopular you still have a few backups.

Revenue Streams- Don’t rely to heavily on one form of revenue (usually Adsnese Ads) read our article on Top 10 Adsense alternatives. Additionally try selling stuff on ebay, or selling your visitors a physical or digital items like an e-book. People don’t often realize this but those advertisers on your site are making money off of your visitors because you aren’t. You can make alot more by selling them something directly.
