2011 Canadian Silver Wolf Coin

The 2011 Canadian 1 oz Silver Wolf is a limited edition coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. They are limiting the production to just 1,000,000 coins, so they are fairly rare. The regular Canadian Silver Maple leaves produce between 3 and 5 million coins a year.

Silver Canadian Timber Wolf Coins are part of a 3 year Canadian Wildlife Coin Series that the mint is going to implement. Demand for silver is up, so if you are going to buy or pre-order you most likely want to do so know.

I’m personally waiting for the price of silver to drop a bit before I buy anything else, or at the very least wait and see if it holds at the current high for a 6-8 months. If it does, I might buy some anyway.

What do you think about the coins? They are .999 pure just like the maples. They have a $5 face value just like the maples. They come in monster boxes of 500 and tubes of 25. I think the maples look a bit better, the Wolf side of the coin looks a bit messy, not nearly as crisp and clean as the lines on the maple. The eyes look a little sloppy as well, but I imagine it’s hard to make a furry timber wolf out of silver.

I also wonder what the other5  animals in the series are going to be?
