Best Keyword Density for Google and Yahoo
There has been some debate for years over keyword density suited for both Google & Yahoo. What we’ve done is take the the average consensus and improve upon it by adding bits we’ve learned from our experiences dealing with keyword density.
So the question at hand is “What’s the right keyword density?”.
Google Keyword Density
The answer is somewhere between 4% and 7% this is an average according to books, and online discussions in forums and other blogs. Now older more established sites that are related to the keyword term can get away with a lower keyword density. While newer sites may have to hit the top of that threshold just to rank in the top 10.
Yahoo Keyword Density
The answer is somewhere between 5% and 8% this is an average according to books, and online discussions in forums and other blogs. Yahoo seems to be ok with a higher keyword density even on newer websites. You may find out that a site with a higher keyword density will rank well in yahoo long before it ranks well in Google.
No Keyword Stuffing
Do Not Keyword Stuff. This used to work up until about 2004, but the search engines pick up on this real quick now. What is keyword stuffing you ask? If my keyword was blue widget, this would be and example. Example: Blue Widgets are cool because Blue Widgets make life good. Without Blue Widgets my Widgets would not be Blue. Pretty annoying right? Yeah that’s stuffing.
So a quick summary. Google Keyword Density = 4% to 7% Yahoo Density = 5% to 8%.
