Chitika.com Website Down?

Chitika Down?

Chitika Down?

As of April 23rd 6am eastern time Chitika’s website seems to be offline?

It is still serving ads, so maybe its just the user interface that is offline. Maybe there was some scheduled maintenance that i was unaware of.

I’ve checked the sites from my own computer as well as from a handful of proxy sites just to verify.

Just wanted to make a quick post I’m sure other people are having similar issues. Just wanted to give a heads up.

Chitika Replaces Yahoo Ad Network

Chitika Replaces Yahoo Ad Network (YPN)

We wrote on the closing of Yahoo’s ad network sometime last month, and today we wanted to write about Chitika is replacing YPN. Yahoo is actually sending all their old customers over to Chitika. Now whats cool about this is that you can run Chitika and Google Adsense on the same page. That’s been chitika’s “claim to fame”. Chitika an ad agency formerly known for their linx units, as well as thei e-minimalls is company that was founded in 2003, serves over 550 million queries a month.

Chitika and Adsense Yes, YPN and Adsense No
So this is good for people in general. It was against the Adsense TOS to use Yahoo Publisher Network and Adsense together because they looked to similar. Google effectively crushed YPN using this tactic. Chitika on the other hand bloomed as it paid attention to the TOS and build an add company that fits like a glove with Google Adsense.

So chitika is effectively replacing YPN. What does this mean? Well this means that Chitika may be the 2nd largest online ad publishing agency in the near future. Just something to think about.

Yahoo Publisher Closing

Yahoo Publisher (YPN) Closing

I just got an email from Yahoo Publisher Network, also known as YPN, and they are officially closing the beta program April 30th, 2010. YPN was a major competitor in the online advertising and ad publishing realm. They have however not been doing very well it seems. Here is the email i got just a few minutes ago. Continue reading …

Chitika Select Review

Chitika Select

Chitika Select

Here is our Chitika Select Review. They seem to be pretty excited about it, and to tell you the truth I think it’s a great idea.  Really.

Chitika has a huge customer base, possibly only second to Google Adsense. Chitika Select is going to be a great ad to help monetize your site. Since they have nearly dropped their Chitika Linx product they really did need something more for both their advertisers and their publishers.

We’ve started this page, and will be trying them out Monday March the 8th 2010. We’ll post our info here and you are more than welcome to post your opinion on the product. Check out Chitika Select Here.

Check back this week for a full review on the chitika select  product.

Well I’ve displayed a few hundred thousand chitika select ads, and made an average cpm of .04 (thats 4 cents per thousand ads)

These where displayed across 3 large websites that get good quality traffic. I have to give Chitika Select a 1 out of 5 or something like that, really horrible ad revenue system.  They say its cpm, but it is really cpc. I’ve put it on a few sites that got 0 clicks, and had a  0.00 cpm. Im sure the advertisers love the solution, but for publishers its just awful.

If anyone else has anything to say please tell me. Just post your review below. Please no spamming the post with links however.

If you want to display a real CPM ad try Tribal Fusion or similar.

Chitika Drops Linx Ads

Chitika Drops Linx Ads!?

Chitika Linx Gone

Chitika Linx

Chitika one of the rising stars of the internet advertisement world has effectively dropped their very popular linx ad units. These units were high yield ad units for publishers, and ow they’ve been dropped, or at the very least taken down a peg. I’ve personally seen my Chitika income drop by 80% ouch! They offer premium ads, but these ads pay a horribly low cpc rate. I’m really distraught here, I mean I loved those ads. They were a boost to my revenue stream. I think I’m switching over to Vibrantmedia Intellitxt. I have an account with them, but man I really like those linx ads from chitika. Continue reading …
